This year more than ever we feel it is important to recognise the individuals who have gone above and beyond to deliver the best service in the industry. We have faced one of the toughest years any of us have seen before, and the front-line staff in our equestrian stores have felt the brunt of it.
At Weatherbeeta we are very proud to sponsor the BETA Retail Employee of the Year Award, which is awarded to the employee showing the most initiative, excellence in customer service, product knowledge and commitment to retailing. Over the coming months, and on the lead up to the Award Ceremony at the end of January, we will be posting stories from our equestrian heroes throughout the industry.
We would encourage you to show support to your local equestrian retailers and their amazing staff by supporting the entry of their staff into this award when you are in store over the coming months or nominate them yourself by completing the form available here.
Here are the employees that have been nominated for this award so far:
Lucy Lumsden - Pet n Pony - Durham
Lucy started as a weekend worker 4 years ago, whilst still at college studying Animal Management. She gradually became a full time member of staff as she finished her education. She is an invaluable member of the team with a vast knowledge of products and animals. She’s always eager to learn more and has expressed an interest in becoming a SQP through Pet n Pony, which we are looking into once training recommences.
Lucy has always gone the extra mile and is extremely flexible. Her approach was instrumental to our success throughout lockdown as she went above and beyond for our customers by dropping off orders after her shift had finished or starting early to help with deliveries. Lucy is someone you can rely on.
When Lucy is not working she enjoys spending time with her loan horse Bertha and a menage of small animals including cats, hamsters, guinea pigs and gerbils.
Sara Billinghurst - Stockley Trading Ltd - Littlehampton Store
Sara delivers exemplary customer service. She is friendly listens carefully to our customers and offers advice when it's needed. So many of our customers have seen their horses health and mood improve following her advice. She has been instrumental in making our stores the go to place for safety equipment. A number of our customers have special needs and she makes them feel comfortable and important. We are incredibly privileged to have Sara on our team.
Allie Rukin - EQUUS
This year has been a very busy year at EQUUS with significant growth for the Operations & Customer Services team of which Allie is the most experienced member. The unprecedented demand on our 3rd party couriers due to COVID-19, the implementation of a new IT system to manage our purchase and customer orders, and a warehouse re-organisation, all inevitably took their toll on Customer Services. Throughout, Allie remained calm and professional at all times despite some challenging issues that resulted in an increase in customer communication. Furthermore, Allie demonstrated initiative by proactively following up customers' enquiries and finding solutions to meet their varied needs. This would not have been possible without her detailed product knowledge of the vast range that we have on our website. For all of these reasons, Allie is an excellent role model to aspiring retail employees in our industry and thoroughly deserves to win this award!
