Be Safe and be Seen

Be Safe & Be Seen

Whether you’re out for a hike on a misty morning or just squeezing in a quick jog before bedtime, you want your dog to be with you for every adventure.

I know I’m not the only one who wakes up, peaks out the window to see a typical British drizzly Monday morning and just wants to flop back into bed and bundle up under the covers. But having lived with dogs for most of my life there is no better motivation to get up and tackle the day than seeing your dog’s happy face and wagging tail when you mention the word W-A-L-K-I-E-S.

Border Collies are known for their active and intelligent personalities and they enjoy being kept busy. My lovable pup Blue loves going out and exploring, whatever the weather. He’s a 9 year old Blue Merle Border collie, and as you can see he’s got the most beautiful, thick and fluffy coat – amazing for lots of fluffy hugs, difficult for brushing, nightmare for moulting and even more of a task to find him a suitable high visibility coat that won’t make him overheat?

Taking your dog out should be fun, rewarding and most of all, safe. Which is why I really had to do my research when choosing the right fit for our active lifestyle and more importantly my boy's comfort & safety. I wanted a dog coat for him that had zero fill, secure and comfortable for him to wear when running full speed to chase a ball and made from a quality, durable high-vis material.

I chose to invest in the WeatherBeeta Reflective Exercise Dog Coat for a couple of reasons. It features a high quality waterproof and breathable outer (perfect for if you’re caught in a rain shower or if, like mine, your pup loves running through muddy puddles!) It has a harness hole, elastic leg straps and reflective piping for added visibility. My favourite feature of this dog coat is the practical shaped design that contours to your dog’s body, my pup Blue is one fluffy collie, so he really appreciates the fully adjustable belly straps to fully accommodate his extra fluff.

I was a little worried when I first came to try the dog coat on Blue, as lovely as he is sometimes he can be a little ‘skittish’ when it comes to anything out of the ordinary, for example when it comes to giving him flea treatments or grooming and trimming his coat or claws he will hide in the garden for hours with his best “Human…how could you possibly do this to me” puppy eyes.  But I was delighted that he took to wearing the coat straight away! It was so easy to slip over his head and pop his legs through the large leg holes.  This gives me total peace of mind that he’s not only comfortable but he can be safe and seen whatever the weather throws at us. - Until next time, Sophie & Blue xx
