After a lovely relaxing Christmas break, the build up to Tokyo 2020 has well and truly begun. My team and I have a very busy year ahead of us!

The competition season for selection kicks off with the Para Winter Championships at the end of February which are held at Myerscough. Both Louie and Stella have qualified for this event and I’m excited to get them back in the arena. I’ve decided to take them to different internationals this year in order to give us more time with each horse to optimise individual competition plans. Stella will be competing in Waregem at the end of April and then Louie will go to Deauville at the end of May. The final selection trials will take place at Hartpury in July where, fingers crossed, all the hard work will pay off.

So far, they are exceeding all expectations and both have the right attitude for the job. However as they are both fairly new, I am going into this year as the underdog – a position I have not been in for a while! As we all know horses pick up on how you are feeling, so my plan is to really enjoy this year. I will definitely be giving it my all but at the same time not putting too much pressure on myself or my horses.
