Sponsored Rider Update! Gemma Tattersall

Here is an update from Gemma Tattersall, with some highs and lows we wish Gemma and her team a swift recovery to top form!

The last month or so has been quite a challenge for Team Tatt! A few tumbles from me and two of my staff has proven quite testing. Both my girls and I are recovering well, one member is still off but doing really well. This means we have had to really pull together and some friends and owners have helped on the yard. We have managed to keep things ticking over and horses all happy and exercised!

It was an extremely difficult decision to withdraw all my horses from Tweseldown which was the first event of the season. I managed to slightly injure my neck and get kicked in the arm both of which meant I genuinely just didn’t feel strong enough to ride my horses well enough. I am certainly wishing I didn’t have that silly tumble especially as last weekend was a complete disaster event wise, all events were cancelled across the country due to this terrible weather we’ve had, snow on the ground and Horrendous freezing winds is just not ideal for Eventing! We made the trip to Lincoln on Friday with 5 horses and lots of Weatherbeeta rugs (thank god in freezing temperatures!) to stable with two more horses to follow on the Sunday. Managed to compete one horse on Saturday morning who was my own Billy Shania, she was perfect in what I can say was the worst weather conditions I’ve ever ridden in for a double clear and 2nd in the ON. We then managed two baby dressage tests with Facari MG and Chillis Prince, I made it back to the stables when the biggest Blizzard began covering Lincoln in snow! That was it game over. We were all gutted as I had my top horses running the following day. So so sorry for the organisers who had made a huge effort in every way to run, so frustrating for everyone. Now brave pants will be required at our next event with The horses  as they will all be going in at 2 or 3 star at Burnham Market!

All these things are certainly sent to challenge us, but my team is strong and we are determined to be ready for Badminton and all big events coming up. It can only get better!! Luckily Arctic Soul and Pamero 4 (Spike and Pee) who are both aiming for Badminton, are doing really well and their fitness work has been good. I do hope we can keep this up and get to Badminton in the right shape! STOP SNOWING!!!!

I am currently on a plane on my way to Florida to teach a clinic for Justine Dutton, was up early this morning running and planking before I left in the hope I will be fit for the big B too having missed these runs!

Until next Time....
